Maker Faire Recap

I went to Maker Faire on Saturday.   The rise above was amazing and crisp.   I was so happy that it wasn’t too hot.  I went on one's own, so I walked around with my Ipod, jamming to my “cowboy party” playlist.

I headed into the Maker Focus and recognized Jenny Hart from Sublime Stitching.  She was doing an embroidery demo.  I walked up and was asked if I wanted to learn to embroider.  Of practice I did and who better to teach me but Jenny Hart herself!!  Wonderful excited to meet Jenny, what a great teacher!

Jenny handed me a embroidery hoop and had me pick a figure and floss.

Not too bad for my first try!  I plan on finishing it up soon.

Then I headed into the Show Barn.  I walked principal in and who do i see? Kathy from Crafty Chica!  I was so excited to fitting her!

She asked me if i wanted to make a journal.  I sat rational down and started gluing and glittering my journal…

Then I walked around the Barn checking out kiosk after booth.

I found the Naughty Secretary Club booth and got to muster Jennifer Perkins!  She is so adorable and pregnant!

a lifetime collection

as promised in my sunday stanchion, here are photos from the sale my folks had last summer. when dad retired from masonry vocation, he started buying and restoring antique furniture. he was very masterful at it, patient and diligent about taking all the pieces apart, removing old go on a spree and varnish, applying a new finish and replacing broken handles, etc. over the years he filled their home base with so many beautiful pieces. in the photo above my daughter megan and i are stratum in front of an oak armoire that was one of the very first pieces dad refinished. it was gorgeous. that's my brother, rodger, conventional to my left. his big purchase of the day was a shotgun that had been in my dad's family for several generations. i conceive of all three of my brothers and several cousins were in the bidding.



this is the tea set i posted on sunday. i was mistreat when i said it was missing a cup. it is actually missing a saucer.


these tables are filled with all the ephemera and wood working furnishings from my dad's garage/workshop. there were boxes of old leftover wooden legs and odd ball block-headed pieces that were just crying out with stories about where they'd lived in before-mentioned lives. i bought two cigar boxes full of old keys...

Celine and I took some every so often off in London this weekend. We went to see old familiar faces and places. And our passion for model wore out our credit cards. I found some fantastic vintage treasures at Beyond Retro. More pics to get. So long, lovely Londres!
